Doctors among the top tax evaders. AyNAKu!

Last February we brought our baby to a pedia specialist for a general checkup. Although there's nothing wrong with him but we wanted to make sure that he is doing well. I don't have to go into the details our wisit with the doctor. When the examination was finished we have a chat and after that we were directed to the secretary for the bill. The secretary mentioned the amount so I paid the amount. I paused for a moment hoping to see her write a receipt of payment but she just said "OK a ho."

This is what I'm talking about. Today, if I am not wrong is the deadline of tax return. The BIR has anounced a survey that categorized doctors, lawyers and businessman among the worst of tax evaders. Among the faithful taxpayers are the people who are employed (professional or non-professional) not by choice because of compulsory tax deductions. There is a big loophole in tax system in relation to private professional practitioner and as far as I know there is not much the BIR can do about it except for deligent inspection.

Somehow I have been an instrument in the doctor's tax evation since I didn't insist on securing a receipt. Maybe I felt quite intimidated on that sitiation. Pero ang kapal naman nga mga practitioners an yon. I know this happens a lot everywhere. It could be a dentist's fee, legal advice or financial advice.

I'm sure honesty is miles away even in professional's practice when it involves money.

aYnakU!
